Bright Angel to North Kaibab Trailhead (Rim-to-Rim) Overview

This iconic Rim-to-Rim journey takes you from the South Rim’s Bright Angel Trailhead down through the heart of the Grand Canyon, across the Colorado River, and up to the North Rim via the North Kaibab Trailhead. Spanning approximately 23.5 miles, this hike is as breathtaking as it is challenging, with nearly 11,000 feet of elevation change.

You’ll pass through diverse terrains—from shaded canyon walls and lush creek beds to exposed desert plateaus—each offering a new perspective of the Canyon’s vast beauty. Key landmarks include Indian Garden, Phantom Ranch, and Ribbon Falls. Whether done in a long single day or broken into segments with an overnight stay, this hike demands preparation, hydration, and respect for the elements.

Recommended for experienced hikers who are physically prepared and spiritually ready to encounter the awe-inspiring depths of creation.
