This iconic Rim-to-River-to-Rim journey takes you from the South Kaibab Trailhead down through the heart of the Grand Canyon, across the Colorado River to Phantom Ranch. You head back to the South Rim via the Bright Angel Trailhead. Spanning approximately 18.0 miles, this hike is as breathtaking as it is challenging, with nearly 5,000 feet of elevation gain on the way back up.

You’ll pass through diverse terrains—from shaded canyon walls and lush creek beds to exposed desert plateaus—each offering a new perspective of the Canyon’s vast beauty. Key landmarks include Ooh Aah Point, Skeleton Point, Tip-off, Phantom Ranch and Indian Garden. This hike demands preparation, hydration, and respect for the elements.

Recommended for experienced hikers who are physically prepared and spiritually ready to encounter the awe-inspiring depths of creation.
