First Time Hiking this Area?
As we prepare you for your first ever Rim to Rim experience, we will hike south rim to north rim only.
Here's why:
Direct access to the trailhead therefore starting the trek by 5am most days.
It's important to get an early start to complete your 7 mile decent to the base of the canyon, protecting yourself from potential life threatening heat. Although there is more climbing on this routing, it's spread out over a longer distance, making the climb slow and steady.
The last 4 miles of the climb, you will have increase tree coverage and shade - again giving you some relief from the hottest part of the day.
Arriving at the North Rim is a much more peaceful experience, surrounded by the pine forest as you complete your on the North Rim.
