Cooking Oil Matters

Did you know olive oil has health benefits? Or did you know that there are healthier oils to use when cooking? This food tip is a quick rundown on how cooking oil matters.

Oils are not equal. Oils can be split into being specialized for high-heat cooking or low-heat/cold preparation. In addition, every oil is made up of different components. From different fats (saturated to unsaturated), nutrients (some oils are heart healthy, others are great for blood sugar management) to different flavor profiles.

You'll typically find olive oil in any kitchen. It is one of the most common and versatile oils and is used in a multitude of recipes. It also is a good source of Vitamin E and research studies have shown that it could have anti-cancer and inflammatory properties.

There are many other oils, like avocado and sesame oil, that have their own properties. Some oils are more specialized to the certain recipe or food you are trying to create. You should do your research whenever you are trying a new oil because it may impact a dish more than you think.
